In June of 2011, Piiptsjilling was part of the resicency project Seeljocht, a project of the Into the Great Wide Open Festival on the island Vlieland. The aim was to record a track inspired by the environment and our experiences there.
Piiptsjilling tracks are always improvised on the spot, which is the only way we can work. So instead of focussing on one composition we ended up with multiple hours of material. I'm sure Martin Heyne, who was recording, thought it was quite strange... before playing we don't really speak much. We just start. And it always works. This new CD on Midira proves that again.

Music by Mariska Baars, Romke Kleefstra and Rutger Zuydervelt. Words and poems by Jan Kleefstra. Recorded in Vlieland by Martin Heyne.
Fantastic trip into the various worlds of this artist; still while being ‘different’ interpretations of art, there remains a kind of thread between each work which I sense as having an old dusty cinematic feel. One thing that grabs me and pulls me back into this album multiple listens is the detail of the experimental stitching together of unrelated sounds to form aural sceneries doused in wonder. Every single track from opening experimental intro to the enigmatic (and severely hypnotic) conclusion are significantly seductive. At times Struktura recalls the entrancing works of orchestral cinematic smokey jazz loops of the likes of what one discovers in Biosphere’s music. Struktura keeps a unique vintage vitality of its own design to be sure. Highly recommended (as always, bring a good set of phones to really get inside) Ews Nsj
